DECKadence Marine Flooring, Newport News, Virginia. DECKadence Marine carpeting is an innovative new marine deck covering. Durable, stylish, non-skid, porous and requires no adhesives. Sep 11, 2019  Probably a billion threads on this already, but my search brought up goose eggs. Getting an all new interior put in the boat and debating about floor covering. We got plenty of good years out of the factory carpet and I would have no problem updating to the latest carpet.but we are also debating going to a Gatorstep or Seadek flooring.

I took our boat out of storage I realized my deck covering had to go. I thought about going with no deck covering at all but with the slipping and pounding I’d take I decided to research an alternative covering.

Nov 10, 2017  We feel confident that we have the most rigorous material testing procedure in the industry, but at the end of the day, it is our products that speak. May 30, 2017  That is my boat and I would have had to deal with those areas if I had gone with the big guys too. That being said, Gator Step and Seadek make awesome product if you want a peel and stick option albeit with a much higher price tag. I cannot say how my flooring will hold up over time, but I would be surprised if it doesn't do well.

So while exploring deck-covering options for my boat, I was intrigued to discover we’ve made some serious advances over the years.

SeaDek is a superior alternative to marine carpet and traditional molded-in non-skid. Designed to withstand the harsh conditions of the marine environment, SeaDek is made from UV-resistant closed-cell PE/EVA foam that will not absorb water, and provides exceptional traction when wet or dry.

Carpeting remains the most affordable option, and there’s been advances in material, durability, look and feel.

There’s woven products out now too, like “sea grass,” often used with or in place of carpet and what I like about the weave is they do stand up to the elements and easily hose clean.

“SeaDek” and other manufacturers offer a great product that are EVA material. It comes in a wide variety of colors and can be custom “engraved” by the manufacturer for their boat brand.

I really like the clean way it looks, and it does offer some anti fatigue properties.

Synthetic teak looks like real teak wood and I love the look! The darker versions of it are warm on the bare feet in the summer sun.

Another product that’s new is called DECKadence, it looks like plush carpet but it’s actually this special PVC flow through material. It’s quick dry, cushy on the feet and installs without glue or snaps required! All around I love the product and hands down my favorite, but it too isn’t real inexpensive. Still when I factored in the fact that it’s practical, easy to maintain, no glue, no snaps, cushy on my feet (and back) it’s the way I’m going. www.Deckadencemarine.com

Ski and fishing boat builders started using it a few years ago.

It caught on with them because it’s easy to clean and very comfortable on bare feet.

DECKadence is derived from the same PVC extrusion process as the synthetic teak, but the because they spool the PVC in a coiled process it allows air and water to flow right through it while keeping the surface cool and dry. They attach a poly-vinyl mesh backing that also allows water to flow while it grips to the deck which keeps it from moving around on the deck.

DECKadence doesn’t require any binding or edging and can go right over deck hatches and deck drains.

There are even videos and tips on how to install and even seam the product (if need be) on that site, DECKadence is sold either fully fabricated or in square feet the material is 6′ (six) wide but can easily be seamed to accommodate any width or configuration. Sell a lot cheaper than synthetic teak too at about $10 dollars a square DIY.

So if you’re in the market for a deck covering makeover I hope this helps, good luck and happy boating!
